Not that I can really relate to the art side of things, but your general points/whatever you want to call them are very much relevent to people who write too.

so, this kind of goes without saying, but your paranoia about ‘ten or so people’ being more ‘popular’ than everyone else in fandom is blatantly untrue. like, numerically, it’s just wrong.
but more than that, it’s taking a giant massive shit over all the achievements of those specific people (because you can’t name a number and then say it’s not directed at certain folks) you had in mind when you wrote this little rant. those people have worked just as hard as you have, as i have, and don’t deserve to have their work demeaned.
i get about the same notecount on works as you do, and i’d bet we probably have about the same modest amount of followers. but the difference between you and me is that i (and everyone else of humble fandom standing) recognize that we are not entitled to popularity or praise or accolades.
those things are wonderful, but people are not shitty for not giving them to us.
quit treating them like they are.
